Cabo Fishing Vacations
Panga fishing in Cabo, any suggestions?
We (my wife and I, plus 8 and 11 year old boys) are vacationing in Cabo (rui Santa Fe) in Feburary. Looking for inexpensive small game fishing. Any suggestions on how to get a good inexpensive fishing expereance. Any idea’s, or suggestions?
Hola. I would recommend checking around the marina prior to booking anything through your resort. Of course, it would be alot cheaper if you had more people in your party — you could just hire a boat. Pangas can be a bit small for a group of 4, not to mention sea sickeness on the rough seas. But do-able.
Lots of locals go out in their pangas really early, catch their fish for the day and are back by noon, some might be willing to take you out for a fee. However, there is a marina ‘Capitan” who patrols and watches to see if any fishermen are trying to pick up extra cash by taking out tourists, if you are going to go this route try not to draw attention to yourself.
Another option is fishing off the beach. This can make for a lovely day (especially with a picnic) and lots of great game fish patrol the shores, so you can sometimes catch some pretty great fish. The ocean shore can be rough, and undertow great, so if you do this keep this in mind.
If you would like to fish and you want it to be really inexpensive, then go out to Gordo banks (near San Jose del Cabo) and someone will take you out for a fee.
